Giving Thanks

It's been an interesting year for Nordic Dave, he was fortuitous to get vaccinated in late January/early February. By the time fall rolled around, he was getting his 3rd booster about the same time he and his new bride hosted a wedding celebration that started with a hike to a mountain meadow where the local shaman officiating the blessed event informed us that we are the lightning and the thunder and that our energy fed off of one another.

The Shaman's vision soon became reality as the storm of the year came rolling over the Sawtooth mountains just as our party was about to begin. In what could have been a complete disaster in a party tent in an open field became one of the most epic dance parties to remember. The band imminently at risk of being electrocuted didn't miss a beat playing high energy 80's dance music that had the house rockin'. People danced like there was no tomorrow and indeed an earthquake momentarily interrupted our power source. Lightning, thunder, rain in biblical amounts, a high energy dance band, of course there was an earthquake, naturlich !

Meanwhile back in reality, a highly respected Fortune 500 company inquired of ND's employability and although the background check was thorough, they negated to discover the Nordic Dave Adventure Series and the proclivities associated with being a Nordic skier with a wee a bit of a ravefest/ dancing problem. The intellectual exchange of energy has been refreshingly robust and alles gut alles klar !

Although ND's normal level of over training has been seriously compromised with the new gig, Nordic Dave still manages a decent fitness/ training load and is presently fantasizing of diabolical interval workouts and self induced time trials that have him smiling while drinking too much beer as his preferred method of recovery.

Which leads us to today and giving thanks. Today ND skied 15k of wonderful ski trails at Galena lodge in Idaho. There was approximately 18 inches of snow yet nothing was groomed. At first ND was bewildered as this was a complete treasure trove in the middle of Idaho where there is a general lack of skiable snow. ND just busted trail and skied. He was thinking of all the years at West Yellowstone and how good it was initially until the Mongol hordes arrived from Minneapolis and Salt Lake City and it was no longer good skiing. He was wondering how such a beautiful trail could go ungroomed yet he was skiing by himself. ND then said to himself...SELF...this is a very good thing and be thankful. Had the BCRD groomed and posted on their website what was skiable this would not have been as nice as it was.

And there you have it; a good woman, fun job and busting trail for Thanksgiving.

Thankful for having such great friends and wishing you all the best!

Thankful indeed !
