2025 FIS World Cup Calendar Announcement (and lots of Lumi Trip Overlap!)
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) just confirmed their 2025 World Cup schedule last week! Some events, like the 2025 Trondheim World Championships, the Tour de Ski and the infamous Holmenkollen have been on the calendar for a long time — and Lumi will be running fan trips to all of these events. Other World Cups like a City Sprint in Tallinn, Estonia and the Mixed Relay in Engadin, Switzerland are exciting new surprises.
It’s particularly exciting to see how much overlap there will be between World Cup venues and Lumi destinations. We may not be running trips to all of the World Cup events, but if you’d like to see and ski in some of these famous World Cup venues, you can do it on many of the Lumi trips like Toblach (Dolomitenlauf & Marcialonga Trip), Les Rousses (France Transju Trip), Engadin (Seefeld & Engadin Trip), Tallinn and Lahti (Estonia & Finland Trip).
Read on for photos and descriptions of some of the World Cup venues you can ski on your next Lumi trip!
On Lumi World Cup & World Championships trips, travel to cheer for your favorite World Cup skiers and receive unique access, opportunities & insights at the events. Plus experience all the cultural activities, cross-country skiing, and top-notch hospitality you’d expect on other Lumi trips.
Lumi will be running trips to three World Cup & World Championship events this winter:
Val di Fiemme Tour de Ski Trip
January 2 - 9, 2025
Italy’s Val di Fiemme will be hosting the cross country events for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. But you don’t have to wait until 2026 to cheer for your favorite World Cup athletes in this iconic venue. Lumi is running a trip to the 2025 Tour de Ski, where you can watch the Skiathlon and infamous final climb up Alpe Cermis on the last stage of the Tour de Ski. Lumi’s trip continues in Seiser Alm — a favorite post-tour recovery trail network for many of the World Cup athletes.
Week 1: February 24 - March 3, 2025
Week 2: March 3 - March 10, 2025
World Championships in Norway?! This only happens once every decade or two and it brings out huge crowds of Norwegian ski fans cheering for their favorite athletes right in their own back yard. Lodging and tickets are almost impossible to reserve for these two weeks in Trondheim, but Lumi has you covered with all the logistics, lodging and grandstand tickets taken care of for you. Week 2 is almost full and Week 1 is filling quickly. Sign up soon!
March 10 - 17, 2025
Oslo’s Holmenkollen World Cup is one of the longest running on the World Cup circuit with athletes skiing 50 km around the Holmenkollen plateau overlooking Norway’s capital city. This event is a weekend of ski celebration, plus Lumi has paired the World Cup weekend with 3 days of skiing in Lillehammer and Sjusjoen — two of Norway’s other most popular cross country ski destinations.
Several other Lumi trips are in the same places as 2025 World Cup events, and include the opportunity to ski a Worldloppet ski marathon:
March 10 - 17, 2025
Host village of the 1994 Olympic Winter Games, Lillehammer is the mecca of cross country skiing. Participate in the Norwegian Birkebeiner, where you start in Rena and finish in the Lillehammer Olympic and World Cup stadium. Bib pickup is in Haakon’s Hall, the ice hockey arena designed to resemble the hull of a viking ship, plus the trail leads past the Olympic ski jumps, site of the 1994 Opening and Closing ceremonies.
Toblach for Dolomitenlauf & Marcialonga
January 17 - 27, 2025
The Tour de Ski kicks off in Toblach, where the peaks of the Dolomites offer a majestic backdrop to the racing. The iconic trailhead building was built into the ski trail, where racers ski up and over the building. This hill, lined with flags of ski countries of the world, is a popular photo stop for Lumi guests when they ski in Toblach on the Dolomitenlauf & Marcialonga trip.
February 3 - 10, 2025
Les Rousses is the village where the Transju’ Worldloppet starts and Lumi’s accommodations in the middle of town make it possible to walk from your hotel to the start. The World Cup course has snowmaking and saved the 2024 Transju, so that participants could still ski and earn Worldloppet stamps in France. A surprise for many guests was that the World Cup stadium is named after French Olympic Gold Medalist Jason Lamy-Chappuis, the son of Lumi’s trip leader Annette — who is perhaps even more famous in her community than Jason.
March 3 - 10, 2025
With 14,000 participants, the Engadin Ski Marathon is one of the largest in the Worldloppet. Fortunately, at 42 km and a net elevation loss, it’s also one of the easiest. In 2021, when the Engadin Marathon couldn’t host it’s standard 14,000 skiers due to Covid restrictions, the race organizers offered to host a World Cup on the 42 km course instead. That’s how the Engadin originally was added to the World Cup circuit and now it’s back for another World Cup weekend in 2025!
Tallinn and Lahti for Tartu and Finlandia
February 14 - 24, 2025
Guests often ask about snow certainty for Worldloppet events and trips. The International Ski Federation (FIS) has strict regulations about how much snow a venue must make to host a World Cup. With World Cup events happening at the end of the season in Tallinn and Lahti, the race organizers will be making as much snow as possible earlier in the season, which bodes well for our odds of plenty of snow in Estonia and Finland. Did we mention the iconic Finlandia Ski Marathon starts and finishes in the Lahti World Cup stadium? The three ski jumps make for a beautiful backdrop to the Finlandia.
I’m thrilled about this overlap between 2025 Lumi trip destinations and FIS World Cup venues and can’t wait for this winter already!
