Snowfall Fuels Ski Adventures Across the Alps
Winter is in full swing across the Alps, with Lumi guests in France, Germany and Italy enjoying the fresh snowfall to the fullest. We’re excited to share some recent highlights with you as the ski season hits its stride and we quickly approach the midpoint in our 2026 winter calendar.

Lumi guests celebrate the return of the König Ludwig Lauf
Skiers were treated to magical conditions at this year’s König Ludwig Lauf Worldloppet event, back after a two-year hiatus, fresh snowfall and an early-morning fog left the trees lining the course frosted to perfection, as if they were plucked straight from one of Chris Zafren’s holiday cards. Guests enjoyed the race atmosphere and abundant sunshine as they glided their way around the course. “It’s great to be back!” said Lumi trip leader and Olympian from Germany, Elisabeth Schicho.

Following their visit to the König Ludwig Lauf, several skiers in the group then joined Lumi’s trip to France’s Jura Mountains which kicked off earlier this week. Like this year’s Marcialonga, the snow keeps falling in France. The groomers are having a hard time keeping up! Every outing has been an adventure as the group discovers beautiful snow-covered forests around every turn. Preparations for the weekend’s Transjurassienne Worldloppet event are coming together and the abundant fresh snowfall is a welcome sight for both skiers and race organizers alike.

Meanwhile, my own adventures brought me to a special event a little closer to home: the Moonlight Classic in Seiser Alm. This celebration of the Snow Moon opens with traditional folk dancing, whip slinging and alphorn players before skiers take to the course once darkness has fallen. The sight of hundreds of headlamps bobbing their way across the Seiser Alm plateau’s trails is a wonderful memory I won’t soon forget. The event brings together the local communities to celebrate and capture our shared love for skiing through the long winter. If you’d like to ski Seiser Alm in the daylight or stroll under the stars, check out Lumi’s Seefeld & Seiser Alm Sight-Skiing Trip.

This weekend not only marks the Transju’ Worldloppet in France, but the Finlandia-Hiihto in Lahti, Finland as well. Lumi guests are looking forward to participating in this exciting event as they kick off their trip to Finland & Estonia. In addition to skiing, the trip features lots of sauna opportunities, ice skating, ski jump touring and even how to make Estonian sweet buns.
