Skiing into the Equinox, plus last week to save $300 on 2025 Lumi Trips!
It’s the first week of spring, though it feels like there was never a winter in many places. One place that definitely had winter (and still does!) is Norway. Lumi skiers on the Norway-Birken trip savored their time on snow in Scandinavia this past week, filled with World Cup cheering, discovering the Holmenkollen, Nordmarka, Sjusjoen and Lillehammer trails and even participating in the Birken.
The festivities kicked off at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival where we cheered on Jessie Diggins en route to her second World Cup Overall championship. After the race, guests were invited into the US Ski Team’s wax truck where Julia Kern, her coach Kristen Bourne and wax tech Eli Brown shared insights about Jessie Diggin’s 50 km classic race strategy and mid-race nutrition that helped keep her World Cup points high as the leader of the season.
To then see Jessie receive the prestigious Holmenkollen Medal from Norway’s Prince Haakon and go on to win her second overall World Cup in Sweden… we were all celebrating her huge accomplishments from Lillehammer!
This past Saturday, lots of snow and strong winds pushed Norwegian Birkebeiner organizers to move the 54 km Birkebeinerrennet and 28 km HalvBirken skis a day later to Sunday, which created nearly perfect conditions for Birken skiers who woke up to gorgeous snow and sunshine for their ski up and over the pass back to the Birken Stadium. It was a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day too, as guests were met at the finish line with pints of Guinness to celebrate.
Since Lumi launched the first Norway-Birken trip, skiing in Norway has been my favorite way to wrap up the season. Despite being so far north, by March the days are long and often sunny, with a great chance of good snow conditions. Join us next year for the Norway-Birken trip.
Fortunately, this winter still isn’t over! Next month Lumi is heading even further north to the northernmost capital in the World, Reykjavík, to extend the season with a trip to Iceland for the Fossavatn Worldloppet ski marathon in Ísafjörður. I’m excited to have more skiing ahead!
This inaugural trip to the land of fire and ice has been very popular so we’re already planning to run an April 2025 trip to Iceland. Reach out if you have any questions about the experience or want to save your spot for next year. Reach out to info@lumiexperiences.com. I’m happy to send along the trip itinerary so you can take a closer look at the trip, which is filled with visits to volcanic craters, waterfalls, geothermal pools and skiing above the fjord in Ísafjörður.
2025 Lumi trips are filling quickly and there is only one week left to receive the $300 / person early booking discount by March 31. Our new Tartu & Finlandia trip and Trondheim World Championships, Week 2 trip are both almost full so you’ll want to sign up soon if you’re interested in joining either of these. Also, the Dolomitenlauf & Marcialonga trip is already waitlist-only, but there’s still some space on the Marcialonga & King Ludwig trip.
See you on the trail,
