"Prepping For Another Trip Over The Pond"

Hi Ski Post!Greetings from Craftsbury, Vermont where I am prepping for another trip over the pond to race in the Lahti and Falun World Cups. The Lahti weekend involves a 30k skiathlon and a 4x7.5km relay while I have start rights for the 15km classic mass start in Falun and am hoping to gain start rights for the 15k freestyle with a strong race in Lahti.
Training is silver, recovery is gold :)
I was lucky enough to spend Christmas with my fiancé and her family in the U.P and enjoy the special time in the midst of a pandemic. In order to qualify for Period 3 World Cups, I had to partake in official-unofficial time trials in Craftsbury which meant I had to start my quarantine early with Kameron’s family and drive across the country to avoid the 10 day quarantine necessary to re-enter Vermont if you fly. I placed second in the 15k skate to Adam Martin in the one time trial I was able to attend and waited anxiously to hear if I had made the cut for World Cups. In the intervening weeks I took advantage of the snowmaking loop at Craftsbury to put some valuable on-snow time and work on the crucial transition from dryland training to snow racing as my only time on snow before was the 10 days before the Davos World Cup.
Time with my brother’s kids with my fiancé Kameron is always special.
I am looking forward to heading over to Finland this Sunday pending a negative COVID test and looking for a little redemption after my lackluster 49th place in Davos. With a full field of Norwegians and Finns, it should be a tough race, but I am looking forward to the challenge. I hope all of you have found fresh corduroy and extra blue tracks post-Christmas and are staying healthy and safe. Until next time!
Beautiful driving up to Craftsbury
