Today, for the first time since November 8, I stepped foot in the United States! The season which began in Finland, took me to: Germany, Poland, Italy, and Slovenia, finally wrapped up in Austria this past week. I am so grateful for the many staff and athletes who made this season safe and memorable. Looking back on the past weeks, highlights included taking part in the World Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia and competing in the IBU Cup finals in Obertilliach, Austria. While I ended up with far fewer race days than expected in 2021, I am glad that I was able to take the start line this year, while so many people worldwide had their lives seriously affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Looking forward to the next season, I hope that worldwide we can see trends leading to a healthier worldwide population and more opportunities for life to return to normal. This week, while in quarantine, I will have a chance to review my past training and racing season and set some goals for the upcoming year. This is a pivotal part of any athlete's preparation, and I can't wait to find new ways to improve!
